Workato vs Zapier

In recent times, there has been a collaboration between the sales team and software platforms. But to get the best out of these platforms for teams generating revenue, one has to harness their ample power. This is beyond just conversation.

Integrating your major business systems into your collaborative hub is essential. This will help teams to have timely conversations that'll aid the progress of your business. Also, your teams will be able to access critical information about the mission and streamline workflow.

In this article, we would be focusing on the comparison of two popular platforms for integrating systems. These platforms are Workato and Zapier. We'll also cover alerts, actions, and buttons of Workato and Zapier.

Alerts

Workato and Zapier allow the creation of alerts that push information from one software system to another. We will compare alerts in Workato and Zapier.

Features of Workato's Workbot Alert

Notifications can be pushed by Workato's workbot. This can happen on the threshold, object creation, or a field change. The primary aim of the threshold option is to meet a new record threshold in software systems like Salesforce. This process is similar to data mapping between systems compared to the context of sorting information in software platforms like Slack.

If someone creates an object, change existing information, deletes a record, or add new information, you'll have a knowledge of it as long as you enable the right settings. In a nutshell, it is less tasking to copy workflows in Workato compared to Zapier. So you can create the same alert for several channels.

Features of Zapier's Alert

Zapier allows the pushing of crucial alerts to a Slack channel. This happens based on a custom object creation in Salesforce or a field change. For instance, alerts can be pushed based on things like new contracts, stage changes, updated accounts, and many more. Nowadays, separate zap needs to be created all kinds of alert you're willing to receive.

With Zapier, alerts see only pushed to a specific Slack channel. If you wish to distribute the same alert to several channels, you'll need to create a separate zap for them individually. If distributing the alert to multiple people is what you want, the easiest way would be to add every one of them to a specific channel. This also means that you'll need to manage and add channels when employees join and leave your company.

Actions and Buttons

It is quite intriguing to get alerts from software systems like Salesforce. But the integration between Slack and Salesforce has really skyrocketed in productivity. This is due to the ability to modify, add to Salesforce from Slack, and edit without having to open Salesforce.

Below is a detailed list of you can do Salesforce from inside Slack.

  • Workato offers buttons that can be pressed from Slack. This button causes a change in Salesforce. This option is not present in Zapier.
  • There are limitations to Workato's buttons. Although you can use them to carry out a number of tasks, it'll require quite an effort to set them up.

Actions and Buttons in Workato's Workbot

Unlike Zapier, data can be pushed from Slack back to Salesforce by Workato's workbot. There two options available which are commands and buttons. Basic tasks can be executed from Slack if a workbot button is set up.

If you press the button, you'll be required to log into Salesforce for the purpose of authentication. Afterward, you can return to Slack immediately without having to do anything in Salesforce.

With a little knowledge of coding, you can create a button action of your choice for your workbot. After you have created the button actions, a recipe you created will be triggered. Then you can now do anything from updating fields in Salesforce to pulling information from Salesforce.

Another way to achieve this is to use commands that are typed. When this is done, a series of questions will be initiated form the workbot. This will help in carrying out the actions you intended for the workbot. It is important to know that workbot commands are not the most instinctive, but they possess vital customization potential.

Actions and Buttons of Zapier

When Zapier is been used, there is no possible way to press a button in Slack and at the same time cause a change in Salesforce. But there are some insignificant actions that can be taken in Salesforce when a button is pressed from Slack. Below is a detailed list of the process to cause an action in Salesforce.

  • Make sure to set up a channel you would like to use for certain Zapier commands.
  • Create a particular message. Make sure that once this message is typed, there'll be an update or creation of a specific object in Salesforce.
  • Make sure to type the message manually in the exact manner you want the action to take place in Salesforce.
